Terroni: Are you guys eating sauerkraut today?

Blake: Collards and black eye peas on New Years.

T: Oh, that's right, you're Southern.
You know, I don't think I've ever had a collard green.
What do they taste like?

B: Cabbage or turnip greens.
Except more chewy.

T: What do cabbage or turnip greens taste like?

B: Oh god.

T: It's not easy to be my friend, is it?

B: It has its difficulties.

  1. I enjoyed this conversation! Turnip greens? We don't eat those here either.

  2. Bing is from Louisiana. I have eaten many strange things that I never had as a child. Some were good: gumbo! Others, not so much: collard greens.

Okra surprised the hell out of me. It was actually pretty tasty. Why someone gave it such an old lady name, I dunno. It is like meeting a really gorgeous woman and finding out that her name is Bertha.

  3. Mmmh greens. Now I MUST have some. They're one of my favorite foods. Especially cabbage and mustard greens.

Word Verification: fraving, sounds like craving. Which I'm now doing, damn you!

Also, @Maria: OKRA is my FAVORITE. and I would totally name a child that. Which is why I'm not allowed to have babies.

  4. I've been so homesick for southern food lately, now even more so.
It's not that I can't get the ingredients and make it myself...I just want someone else to do it, someone with a drawl that isn't western.

    Word thingy: diste

"That son of a bitch diste me, gonna have to pull a 187 up in here!"
