Are you dead?
What's wrong?
I'm gonna call you in a minute...
That's the text message you get from Blake when you've overslept.
Then, as promised, he calls you in a minute. When you answer, he blurts out, "Ok. So you're not dead. What's wrong? Why aren't you at work?"
The first part is my favorite.
Ok. So you're not dead.
I like this for two reasons. First, it's good to establish that fact--the fact of you being not dead--early in the day. Second, it's nice to be reminded there are people who'd be a little panicked if you were.
I'm simply saying, if it weren't for that terribly jarring hour and a half late to work bit, this wouldn't be a bad way to start every day.

Late to work simply shouldn't exist; one should rock up when one feels like it; in a perfect world, of course.
Very nice of Blake to text & then confirm - LOL. I figure you would be missed wherever you worked little one.
haha... are you dead. I'm glad he called! If not he might have thought you were a gonner!
I'd like to be thought of as a reliable enough person that, if I were late to work the next logical assumption was that I was dead.
It's good that people would be panicked. I'm pretty sure my crew would just wander off after waiting around for about a half hour.
Does it count that I often feel dead for about an hour after I wake up?
You should text back, "Yes, I'm dead."
Um...are you dead?
Yeah, what Maria said.
Are you dead?
What's wrong?
I wish I could call you in a minute to make sure...
Please don't be dead, I'm jonesing for some new posts of yours!
Love,
Anna
Don't you love that song? So amazing. How are you doing?
I'm ok.
Everything is ok.
Hopefully, I'll have a post ready by the end of the night.
