A pain in the neck

Last night found me drinking white wine, listening to music, and laughing with a friend. I didn't want that weekend to end. My body, apparently, felt much the same. I had orientation to the psychiatry rotation today, and the longer I sat, the less I could move my neck. I'm not sure what the hell I did to it. By the time the day ended, I had shooting pains and had to turn my entire body to see anything that wasn't directly in front of me. A little nap, a hot shower, some ice, some Advil, some stretching, and now a heating pad (I'm trying it all)...and I'm feeling a little better.

And, Graci just showed up with medicine in the form of Icy Hot and Oreos! Damn, she's going to be a good doctor. I'm off to self-medicate...

Ouch. Hopefully the Oreos will help ease the pain. What kind of white wine do you drink? I always drink reds, but I'm thinking I should give a few white wines a try.

i am just getting over some kind of flu thing that was fever, chills, and head/neck ache. now that's all gone, but there's a tiredness i seem to be getting over more slowly. not a good time, since i defend my thesis this week. but at least it didn't wait till two days before that.

i hope you feel better.

P~ I like Pinot grigio or Chardonnay when I'm drinking white. I really love reds, but they give me terrible migraines. I have them anyway sometimes, but then I have to wait until I forget just how miserable that headache was until I drink a red again.

Joshua~ I'm sending kick ass thesis defending vibes your way.

Terroni dear - I think a physiotherapist for the neck pain, sounds like you've pulled something and a physio can fix it. (I've done this several times from whipping your head around too quickly or just sleeping the wrong way). And some additive-free wine for the migraines. I can't take the sulphur dioxide in white wines, they give me migraines too. I can actually tolerate the reds a little better as there is less SO2 used in them but the guilty little buggers are actually the tyramines - as also found in fermented things and mushrooms and matured cheeses. So, if you can tolerate blue cheese then you aren't allergic but if it gives you a monster migraine then its the tyramines to blame. After 40 years or so of horrid migraines, I think I read everything and tried everything. Maxolon (metachlopromide) works wonders for migraine. As soon as you get the early warning signs, take one of those to settle your stomach - works not just on the stomach but on the head too (sorry that this is so simplistic but this isn't the place for a lengthy tome).
In place of oreos, our favourite biscuit (cookie) is called Tim Tam. Very difficult to stop at one!
And, of course Graci is going to be a great doctor! You crack me up with your asides sometimes. Hope the pain in the neck goes soon.

That always works for me....getting smashed and then slipping a little icy hot on my neck and chomping down on about ten oreos....

Seriously, though...I need to read the rest of your blogs to see how you are doing.

Keep a stiff upper lip, not neck...
