So...

So...I haven't been writing much because I've been in the OR. I'm now two weeks into my general surgery month. I am studying for an oral exam--fifty minutes of grilling on any of the 140 cases I've seen so far--and a written test. I'm also reading each night for the next day's surgeries, so that when they hold up some bodily structure and say, "What is this and what does it do?" I can be more specific than, "Uh...nerve?"

So...I haven't been writing much because I've been very tired. And surgery? Well, my job in the OR has mostly consisted of running the camera for laproscopic procedures. I have the eye-hand coordination of Helen Keller, so I'm a real natural. But, as long as I remember that down is up and left is right, it all goes okay. At one point today, the surgeon said, "Clean off the end of that camera--just stroke it on the liver."

So...now I can say I stroked it on the liver.

Will you get to do more than work the camera? Is surgery something that you're interested in? Clean the lens on the liver? Geez!

Sometimes I get to suture a little, staple, retract.
No...definitely not interested.
And geez is right!

Ew!
I've got some liver in the fridge. I was intending eating it rather than using it for a lens cleaner, but I'll try anything once.

but then who cleans the gunk off the liver?? And is the liver really clean enough to clean something else?? This is weird.

Just so you don't slice through the liver with the lens, I think you should be okay....
