Every day for 15 months

Sean Smith, a photographer with The Guardian, is embedded with US forces Inside the Surge.

Spc. Vassell says, We were supposed to be flying home in six days.

Six days.

I challenge the President, or whoever has us here for 15 months, to ride alongside me. I’ll do another 15 months if he comes out here and rides along with me every day for 15 months. They don't even have to pay me extra.

I just want him to come out here and ride with me for 15 months.

It's wishful thinking. Poor guy, I hope he won't have to be redeployed again. This war, like the others (especially Vietnam) will affect generations to come. Alcohol abuse, uncontrollable rage, depression. This country isn't equipped to give these soldiers the real treatment that they will need.

Bush wouldn't ride alog for 15 days let alone 15 months. He's a coward waging a war from the safety of home.

I don't think he could do 15 hours. I have never had such a lack of respect for a president as I do this one.

What a sad little man.

What a sad and moving account by Sean Smith. My heart goes out to our soldiers and the innocent Iraqi people. What a huge mess our President has gotten our country in. He wouldn't last 15 minutes there.
