A new woman

I got up at 4:30 this morning, like I have every morning for the last twelve days, and started to get ready for work. I didn't get very far before I remembered that I have today off! I exceeded my work hours limit last week (worked 97.5), so my attending said I didn't have to round with him this morning.
I came home last night and slept for 13 hours. I feel like a new woman. Hopefully, this new woman will get to write a couple new posts this weekend. In the meantime, I'm off to the coffee shop to study.

New doctors must possess a requisite of super-human strength. 97+ hours? Oi. Not possible to have a "life" outside of work, is it?

I am in awe.

That's a lot of hours, I just hoping you find the work rewarding. If you don't get something out of it, it will be hard to keep it up for long.

I hope you work with lots of nice "teammates" and not just a bunch of angry burnouts.

I actually enjoy it very much (as much as you can enjoy anything for that many hours). But, Deb's right...not much of a life outside of work.

That's not a healthy work week. And so scary to me that they've set the system up in a way that has exhausted people providing the care.

You are doing so splendidly! You will do just fine, I can feel it. Once you get your feet wet that first week or so and realize just exactly what you are looking at, if you can still say you want to be there...then you are right where you need to be.

So, go knock their socks off.
