Who'd a thunk it?
After all this, my attending and resident told me I have a "real knack for psych." They think I should consider it as a career.
Interesting? Yes. And, I have the utmost respect for those who do this for a living.
But as a career? Probably not a great fit for me.
Today, I asked, "What if we took the kid off some of these meds and just prescribed her a normal parent."
They laughed.
I wasn't really kidding.

Incredibly good suggestion, T, and funny! (Tanya? Teresa? Tanika?) These are the only T's I can think of right now - it's a busy week!
Thank you, T. That's going to have me giggling like a fool all weekend.
ugh.
it's so true though - most of these fucked up kids would be a lot less fucked up if they were looked after by people that actually knew how to parent.
Oh, that's funny, except that it isn't.
Well done!
My Guy is a psychologist. And he says your suggestion would work in 99% of the cases.
Yup. You have a real knack for this shit. Because, the honest to god truth is that in over half the cases you run into, it REALLY is all the mother's fault.....
Yup, the medical profession needs a little humor. I hope you let that side of you shine through when you become a doctor.
Now thats what we need more of! A dr. with a sense of humor!
Amen to that. But the pharmaceutical companies would crumble, and send their goons after you.
Thanks for the comment T, you're such a snuggle bunny.
Sadly thats exactly what both the psych and welfare professions need, someone to diagnose the truth occasionally.
