A new toy

I got money for Christmas and have wanted a camera for months. I paid extra so it will be here by Wednesday, because, if all goes as planned, my sister will be having a baby on Thursday or Friday.

Oh, and as it turns out, I am much more excited about that baby than originally planned. I spent much of my time at home poking the kid in the foot and then watching her wiggle her butt--a game easily played on my sister's belly, as she is so skinny you can roughly make out baby body parts with a little prodding. When my sister protested (something like, Ouch, quit poking me in the stomach), I told her to mind her own business, that I was playing with the baby.

Oh my gosh! How sweet! I have never been skinny but my babies have always compensated by being over 9 lbs so one could still play with them in utero!

Can't wait to see pictures of the babe!

Make her have that baby on New Year's. That way, maybe she will get lots of cool junk for having the first baby of the year, etc. Do they do that in Ohio? Because in Nebraska, they always seem to have the baby and mama on the evening news surrounded by all their new baby gear. One year, I had to laugh because it was this 14 year old girl who kept saying that she just wanted her mom to take the baby so that she could go back to playing her computer game. The woman who was interviewing her for the camera had this "good hell, I can't believe I got stuck doing this stupid story" look on her face.

So, Aunties are very special people, you know.....they get all the fun and none of the really stinky diapers.

Dear Auntie Terroni, it is fun, isn't it? I have 5 nieces and 5 nephews: Nigel, Lucas, Carlo, Angus, Ben, Amy-Jane, Jasmine, Amber, Tahlia and Emily.

I wonder what your sister will have - boy or girl - do you know? Does she know?

You will have much hand-holding and back rubbing to do this week as she goes through labour. First babies as you know can be a bit troublesome. Perhaps you could tell the "kid" to go easy on her mama as she enters this world. What fun and you will be on hand with your Canon to take the very first pics of mother and babe.
What a wonderful way to start the new year.
Happy New Year to you little one - hope that 2008 is special for you because you deserve it.

BTW, when you're through with nursing the new baby, we need doctors in Adelaide so you could do an internship here - check out Flinders Medical Centre on the internet - they might have some positions going and then you can go to the beach every day and learn how to speak our language (Aussie English that is - we won't make you learn French!) I met a German girl recently who was doing a surgical internship - she applied on-line. It was only 3 months, I think, but she followed it up with another rotation in Brisbane, Queensland before going back to Germany. It could be a way for you to combine your studies with some travelling. We will pick you up from the airport!

It's a girl--Logyn (sounds like Logan) Jane.

And I'll look into those Aussie rotations, Madame!

Happy New Year, friends :>

No luck with that New Year's baby thing. My sister said she really didn't want to be on the local news anyway, though. She said, "Those women always looked so, like, tired and bloated." My mom laughed and said, "You've got years of tired and bloated ahead of you."

Is the baby Logyn here yet?

Not yet...I'll be sure to tell you all about it as soon as she arrives.
