Greetings from Florida

I've moved on from a very brief stay in my parents' home. I'm now in Florida for the next few weeks studying for my board exam and walking on the beach. I'm not sure how often I'll get to post. I have a couple thousand online practice questions to get through. Unfortunately, none of them are about blogging. I promise that when I do write, though, I'll try to talk more about the ocean than I do about studying.

So...the ocean today was loud. Very, very loud. There were a few storms out over the water. None of them made it to land, but the resulting wind and huge waves did. I decided to brave the elements and walk the beach anyway. It was actually really beautiful to watch the huge white-capped waves breaking as far away as my little eyes could see. And, it was fascinating to watch the storms over the water. It somehow made the earth seem immense to see weather happening in front of me but too far away to be on my head.

The only other people on the beach were young guys. They spent most of their time body-surfing and woo-hooing in my general direction. Not because I'm all that. But because they could tell from my pastiness that I'm not a local, and all the local women have already told them where to stick it. Today they learned that even visitors sometimes tell them where to stick it.

Despite the Don Juans, my walk was fabulous. A great distraction from the studying I promised to try not to talk about.

And you?
How was your day?

Oh, lucky you, even with the woohooers. I want to be at a beach, by myself. But in another six weeks, I'm going to settle for being at a beach with my kids.

i'm so glad to hear that you're combining r&r with studying. that sounds like a really good way to do it, keeping the mind relaxed while reviewing seems like it would work really well for truly absorbing the information. and Florida beaches rule! i have never been able to get into the more northern east coast beaches, they just don't have that same natural vibe. have fun!

I agree with Melanie. The PERFECT recipe for success is to be in a different (but relaxing) environment when you study. You brain doesn't get trapped into those escape places that your home holds and it gets all energized. You are going to do just fine.

And...hey...a little mindless sex is good for the brain too...so if you care to jump some Don Juan bones, have at it...

Yes, lucky you. I can't wait to hear more about your time in FL and your studying stuff is OK too.

May I ask what city in Florida are you in?

My In-laws are in Palm Beach and there's a wonderful restuarant called "The Dune Dog" in a small nearby town calld Jupiter. If it's within reason, you should go there and order the "Grouper Dogs".
If your in Gainesville check out a restuarant called "709".

Have fun and good luck with the studying!

If I were by an ocean, even a stormy ocean, I would have lots of trouble studying.

After your boards you'll be woo-hoo'ing too!

I would love to hear about your studying. It will make me wish I was back in school again. Yeah. That's right. Hehe.

P~ I'm not far from that planetary town. I'll look into The Dune Dog.

Susan~ Happy Birthday! Sorry so late. I tried to leave it in your comments, but I'm not sure it saved before the connection died.

I'm trying to visit all of your blogs this week, but am having some trouble with this dial-up connection.

Florida? I have never been there. That sounds so lovely for a Monday. We have been struggling with storms and sleepless nights.

Good luck on those thousands of questions and who knows, maybe there will be some blog questions.

Good luck Terroni and enjoy the change of scenery. Loved your description of the beach and the Don Juans. Nothing wrong with a woohoo here and there! My day was spent at detox with my 30 year old nephew who is having a tough time - alcohol and ice - not good. Also visited my father - always difficult too. He's quite tyrannical and ranty and just when I think he's mellowing, he has another dummy spit; not at me fortunately, just getting things off his chest, like the cost of dental care!

Mme Benaut~ It sounds like you have a lot going on. Hang in there, friend. And tell your dad that I'm with him. Dental care is quite a chunk of change. I found a rather affordable guy in Ohio, if your dad's willing to do a little traveling.

Ha Ha! Dad could well afford a trip to Ohio but he's blind (macular degeneration) so I'd have to go with him and I don't think I could stand spending that much time with him!
Picked up my nephew today - very fragile and full of valium and pericyazine. Badly needs an antidepressant too which hopefully his GP will give him on Monday. Very tearful but determined to stay the dry course. Still on the weed though. Very sad and hard work but his mother has Schizo Affective Disorder and his father is alcoholic so he leans on me quite a bit. He's a beautiful boy and has so much potential. We just need to help him find himself.
