Ah...I like that one. I would be too nervous to put that on my bumper though.

I already have one that says Draft the Bush Twins. And it does not go over well at all.....

I don't understand this one Terroni. Is this a political statement?
I have middle of the night horrors - can't stop thinking about my father - not something I want to do - seeing his dead body lying on the floor might have something to do with it. Anyway, I can't sleep and it's 2.25 am so I'm up here, just blogging around.
Just to change the subject, it's M.B (my husband)'s birthday today - June 1st - and he's sleeping like a baby.

Madame~ I'm so sorry you can't sleep! Happy birthday to M.B. Are you allowed to tell us how old he is?

And, yes, this post is a political statement. In the US, gay couples cannot legally marry. There are a few states (Vermont, Connecticut, New Jersey) in which gays can have civil unions. One state, Massachusetts, allows same-sex marriage. The federal government doesn't recognize civil unions or same-sex marriages, though. Per the Defense of Marriage Act, other states don't have to recognize them either.

Sadly, most states have no provision for same sex couples. In my own state, they are forbidden from entering into any kind of domestic partnership. In states like Florida, gay people can't adopt children.

Anyway, back to the subject of civil unions... A civil union is how we compromise civil rights. It is how we say to gay people, "You can be together, but you can't be married." This quote from Julie Goldman, a comedian, reminds us of a time when we told African-Americans, "You can ride the bus, but not up front."

If you click on the equal sign, it will take you to the Human Rights Campaign website. This organization fights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender equal rights. They can explain all of this much more eloquently and accurately than I did I'm sure.

Well hey, everyone knows only the coolest kids sit in the back of the bus anyways! :>

Don't tell me to sit up front with thoses fools attempting to chat up the bus driver! Hello, trying to drive here. Our road lanes are very narrow and the turns tight, please let the driver do their job so we can get where we want to go. A simple "Hello" and "Thank you" are sufficient.
