That's all I needed

I called the apartment manager today...

"Hi, this is T from apartment 12. It's raining outside, and also in my closet."

"It is?"

"Yep."

"Like water is coming into your closet?"

"Like it sure is."

"That doesn't sound good!"

"Which is why I'm calling."

"Oh...right."

It quit raining, and I went to the probate court to fill out some paperwork and make a $66 donation (they call it a "filing fee").

Note left on the door by maintenance while I was gone: "Checked leak."

Well thanks. That's all I needed--just a bit of validation.
Just someone to come in and look at the place where the ceiling's about to fall onto my hot water tank...and then leave a little note.
I feel better now.

What cheapjack owns your apartment, T?
Go round there with some buckets of water and throw them in their closet.

This place is a piece of shit, Dive.
I roofed in college, and I'm starting to think I'm going to have to climb up there myself and tar some new flashing around the vent where the water's leaking.
It's too bad I don't know the first thing about plumbing, because our garbage disposal is also draining into the dishwasher.

Gack! That's gross!
Cool that you've done roofing though.

Yeah flashing around and roof bit is usually the first place for a leak for sure.

That's interesting and cool that you have experience in Roofing, still what a hot and dirty job!

A least he left a note that he "checked leak" and didn't "take a leak". :> ha ha

Pity he wrote "checked" instead of "fixed". Don't suppose you have insurance on the contents of your closet? Anything ruined? You definitely need a plumber for the garbage disposal problem; either that or a peg for your nose. Perhaps you and Lolita could look for better housing?

We've had 3 roofs put on our building and it keeps leaking. It sucks. I feel your pain.

Don't you just love it when men pander to you... fuckn pisses me off. You should fix the roof and deduct it from your rent at an inflated price and then maybe he would get his head out of his ass.

Yes...that does piss me off...almost as much as when they fix things that aren't ducts with duct tape.

Like taping is some sort of manly gift. Any idiot with thumbs can use a roll of tape--not a skill, not helpful.

Don't you hate it that they have a key to your home? I know you don't have a choice--I lived in an apartment for a long time. We had a creepy maintenance man. But, checked leak?? How stupid.

Checked leak? What an idiotic thing to write.

When your rent is due, you should send him an empty envelope with a note saying, "checked checkbook."

M, you're funny.

And, you know, that's not a bad idea. Talked to student accounts...stipend checks are going to be a little later than expected. So...I have $33 for the next week or so.

Lolita and her wife will be back in town on Tuesday. Her wife is the only one of the 3 of us with any money. I have grand plans to become her bitch in hopes that she'll feed me something besides the sauceless pasta I'll be eating until they get here.

Terroni love, wish that you were here so I could feed you! Reminds me of when I was living in Paris - I used to make a rice pudding with milk and sugar and a bit of butter - bake it in the oven - it is very filling. And I had just enough money for a baguette and a cafe au lait and my train fare for the week until I got paid. Of course, I always paid my rent on time! If you have staples like bread, butter, milk and cereal - you can survive. Perhaps a better idea would be to beg YOUR mom for a loan to go directly into your account.

My state tax refund check!
