Good for you Terroni but I hope you will be safe. I guess that this is something that you need to do when you're young and fearless but Africa can be a dangerous place at the best of times, let alone in the middle of a war. M.B's aunt and uncle were missionaries in Sudan in the 1940's and 1950's I think.
Wow scary...I'm super proud of you for even thinking about going. It will be an amazing experience. Just be super super careful...
In response to your question yes, I'm a huge Rosie fan and check her blog about twice a week. I think the picture of Vivi is really beautiful and heart wrenching. The number of people who don't get it and are saying "how can you let your kids play with bullets" totally don't get it. Um hello, I don't think she was letting her play with them, it's totally a prop for the picture people...gah. The pic on my blog of the cemetery is actually a swipe from her...

Good luck! That would be quite an experience, both heartwrenching and fulfilling all the same.

I'm saving every penny and learning to suture.

I hope it works out. People like you are needed there.
What an incredible opportunity! Dangerous but worth every effort on your part. Good for you.
God bless You. What a journey to undertake not everyone could do this.
I'm actually really lucky. If the trip ends up coming together, I will be going with a couple physicians who do this for a living.
I posted this as a reminder to keep my eye on the ball--save money and take advantage of every opportunity to learn procedures between now and then.
My brother-in-law does medical missionary trips, mostly to Hondoras and Muldova. The stories he tells are amazing. Good luck to you on your quest.
You've done a lot of posting! I'll be back later to catch up.
Go for it. You will never regret it and now is the time to do this, when you have nothing to hold you back or tie you down.
YES!
Jealous as now, I'd love to do that trip.
Way to go, girl! That would be an lifetime experience. So much to see - it will challenge every fiber of your being. Not a vacation, that's for sure.
